Profile
The master of resources is the master of everything.
Cold-blooded, ruthless, and obessed with efficiency, Ratbat judges everyone and everything in terms of profit and loss. A venerated "descendant of the progenitors", the Polyhexian Senator's duty is "the application of wisdom through judgment". Pleasant wording aside, his actual machinations revolve around monitoring and filtering news feeds and quietly manipulating events to generate greater profit for himself and those in Proteus' inner circle. He was in full favor of the Clampdown, seeing it as a means of uncovering and eliminating any groups opposed to the Senate's rule. Working through stealth and subterfuge, Ratbat has gathered to himself a small group of individuals he has bought or blackmailed into his service, which he uses to stir conflicts and target those who might resist. Responsible for allowing the gladiatorial combat in Kaon to go unchecked, establishing relinquishment clinics to harvest bodies from the decommissioned and automating mining systems to reduce the energon needed to pay low-caste laborers, his every move can be reduced to pure unfettered greed.
History
Placed into the Senate during the rule of Nominus Prime, Ratbat owes Tarantulas no small favors for his assistance in being classified altmode exempt. Rather than being forced to serve in the Cybertronian Air Command (and thus expose himself to combat and harm), Ratbat passed tests for feats of intellectual merit, and was taken in by one of the noble Houses of Cybertron, and thus put in line for Senatorial duties. Quietly having his competition within the house disgraced disqualified for the role, he took position as the lead Senator of Polyhex, putting him right at the heart of Cybertron's economic systems in the middle of its biggest merchant city. His impressive ability to turn a profit and his proficiency at grooming and placing informants whereever they were needed was all the reason Proteus needed to place Ratbat in his confidence and conspiracy.
Ratbat has since acquired the Empty outlier Soundwave as one of his informants, along with the gift of a Shifter from Tarantulas to aid him in his work. Exactly why Tarantulas is helping Ratbat, and how much the Senator owes the spider is presently unknown - but Ratbat's furious acquisition of energon and wealth may be in perfect balance with the weight of his debts.
